Respite Retreat Application

The July 29-31 retreat is now full. We will open registration for a fall retreat, held sometime in September or October, on August 1. We’ll post the specific date at the Respite Retreat Nashville webpage once it is determined. Please make a note on your calendar to come back to this page on August if you’d like to register for the fall retreat.

To apply, please fill out and send the following form. We respectfully ask that you fill it out using a desktop or laptop, rather than on your phone, as some of the sections require a lengthy reply. It is essential that both husband and wife provide information on the application. Occasionally we ask registrants to provide additional information after receiving their application.

You can submit the non-refundable $350 registration fee one of two ways. Our preference, if you have a Venmo account, is for you to send the deposit to @RespiteRetreatNashville on Venmo. You can also mail a check made out to Respite Retreat to: 1053 Stockett Drive, Nashville, TN 37221. (Both of these payment forms eliminate the fees incurred by credit card or PayPal payments.)

Also, send as high resolution as possible snapshot of just the two of you (a “selfie” with your two faces together taken in good lighting with no sunglasses or additional people is ideal) and a high resolution photo of your child. Email those photos to respiteregistrar@nancyguthrie.com.

Your place at the retreat is secured only after this application, the deposit, and both photos are received. At that point we will email you a confirmation that will include additional information you’ll need.

GriefShare is a small group ministry held in around 12,000 churches around the country. The groups use a video series hosted by David and Nancy. We strongly encourage you to see if there is a GriefShare group that meets near you where you can be with other people week-by-week who are grieving as well as take in the wisdom presented in the videos. Please note that the $350 registration payment does not include lodging. Because Nashville has become quite a tourist destination, we strongly recommend that you make a hotel reservation right away to make sure you have a room and to lock in the lowest rate possible, as they will likely rise as the dates get closer. Please make that reservation at one of the hotels at the Old Hickory exit off of I-65 in Brentwood, or at the Hwy 70 Exit off of I-40 in Bellevue. We think the best option is the Spring Hill Suites on Town Center Way in Brentwood, which is new or the Home2 Suites by Hilton Nashville Bellevue. It is very important that you book a hotel in one of the following zip codes: 37221, 37027, or 37215. Our experience is that couples who stay a further distance from our home always have a hard time getting here on time because of Nashville traffic and tend to leave quickly when sessions are over in the evenings, while other couples are able to linger.

Please remember to email high resolution (largest size possible) photographs of the two of you (preferably without sunglasses) and one photo of your child to: respiteregistrar@nancyguthrie.com to complete your application. Usually photos sent from a phone are a very small size and are not usable. When sending from a desktop, you can oftentimes choose the image size and can slect "large" or "actual size."

Waiver and Attestation

We acknowledge the contagious nature of the Coronavirus/COVID-19, and that breakthrough infections are a possibility for fully vaccinated persons. We acknowledge that this Respite Retreat in the Guthries' home will not allow for social distancing, and that masks will not be required for participants. We acknowledge that we voluntarily choose to attend Respite Retreat/David & Nancy Guthrie, to participate in the assembly of people and that we are thereby increasing our risk to exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19. We further acknowledge that Respite Retreat/David & Nancy Guthrie cannot guarantee that we nor any persons participating in Respite Retreat will not become infected with the Coronavirus/Covid-19. We understand that the risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the Coronavirus/COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of ourselves and others. We attest that: If we become infected with COVID-19 in the two weeks prior to the retreat, we will notify the Guthries. We will take a rapid antigen home test prior to leaving home to come to the retreat and will not come if it is positive. We hereby release and agree to hold harmless Respite Retreat/David & Nancy Guthrie from, and waive on behalf of myself, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act of Respite Retreat/David & Nancy Guthrie or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with the retreat. We understand that this release discharges Respite Retreat/David & Nancy Guthrie from any liability or claim that we, our heirs, or any personal representatives may have against it with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, the retreat.

We acknowledge and attest to the above.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that should we need to cancel our attendance at the retreat, the $350 registration fee is non-refundable, though in some cases it can be applied to a future retreat in Nashville, Alabama, or Texas.
