Bible at the Beach
April 17-19, 2024
Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Where will this be? The Learning Campus at Gulf State Park was built after a recent hurricane devastated the area. The campus includes the beautiful Conservation Hall, a really great restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as several housing options. There will be plenty of time in the schedule for taking a bike ride around the park, going kayaking, having good meals with friends, and enjoying some walks on the beach.

How will it work? Conservation Hall, where the sessions will be held, seats 200 people. Sessions will begin at 2:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 17th of April, and run through 6:30 p.m. on Friday, the 19th.

What will the topic be? We will focus on the book of Acts, exploring how the word of God spread in the first century, bringing salvation to the ends of the earth, and to people like you and me. Optional Personal Bible Study Questions on the Acts passages covered will be provided to registrants. Nancy’s new book, Saved: Experiencing the Promise of the Book of Acts will release in late May or early June. It will provide an 18-week study of the Book of Acts, so would work for a fall and spring Bible study. One goal of the week is to prepare participants to lead a study of the book of Acts, but it is not required that you plan to do so to attend.

Who will the speakers be? Nancy Guthrie will present several messages on the book of Acts. Benjamin Gladd will present sessions on how Luke-Acts work together and the Use of the Old Testament in the Book of Acts. Stephanie Seefeldt will be leading the music. In addition, Nancy will interview several other theologians via Zoom projected on the screen including:
• Fred Sanders on the Holy Spirit
• Patrick Schreiner on the Theology of the Book of Acts
• Greg Lanier on Taking the Gospel into the Roman Empire
We’ll have a sing-along with Stephanie night and a hymn sing before we depart on Friday. And we’ll have a beautiful bookstore set up by our friends at 10ofThose.
